We pride ourselves on our level of transparency and high percentage (96%) of donations that directly go to implementing our projects and programs in the field. We are able to keep costs low by using dedicated and talented volunteers whenever possible—for fundraising, legal questions, design and construction of the Training Center in Chimaltenango, and for construction of many of the fuel-efficient stoves.
Over the years, AIR has received funding from the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs; The Shared Earth Foundation; Fund for the Next Generation; the New England Biolab Foundation; American Forests; and the British Embassy. In addition, members of Presbyterian Women PCUSA; the Central Florida Presbytery; and six Presbyterian churches (PCUSA) have given invaluable friendship, labor, and financial support to AIR programs. Several individual Rotary Clubs in central Florida and the Rotary Club of Dunwoody, GA have been generous supporters of AIR's work.
Finally, AIR receives tax-deductible donations from private donors in the United States who understand the importance of teaching and implementing Sustainable Agriculture worldwide. In developing countries, the best way for the forests to survive is to incorporate farming with trees, using the agro-forestry methods that AIR technicians teach and implement in the farmers’ own fields.
